Thermal blocks

Nowadays, thermal blocks are in great demand. They are an especially convenient solution for those people who want to construct a building in the shortest possible time without spending too much money. The basic material for the production of thermal blocks is a polystyrene, which can significantly reduce the total weight providing excellent durability and reliability.

Thermal house

Thermal houses are manufactured from thermal blocks that caused a furor in the private house building. In terms of thermal conductivity, 25cm wall of such a house is equivalent to 180cm brick wall or 250cm concrete wall. Heating season starts when the outside temperature is -3 °C (at the norm of +8 °C!). Thin walls increase the interior space by 1\10 (compared with a brick house).

Structure walls are made up of thermal blocks, which have extensive voids. When the structure is dry-stoned, these voids are filled with concrete, which allows fixing them securely. The result is a virtually monolithic construction, which is able to withstand severe loads. High thermal insulation can significantly reduce heating costs in the future. It is also important that the construction cost is reduced by 30-40 percent when compared with the construction from a traditional brick. This is due to the simplicity of laying, short terms and the possibility of the construction of structures without the use of special equipment.

Thermal blocks can be used in the construction of outer walls of almost all buildings - residential houses, household outbuildings, garages and many others.

Questions of our clients

  1. Question: Are an Insulated House (Izodom) and a Thermal House (Termodom) the same things?
Answer: Yes. These notions refer to the technology of application of a permanent formwork (thermal blocks) for monolithic construction.
  2. Question: Is the material safe for a permanent formwork?
Answer: Expanded polystyrene is used for packaging of food products; besides, beehives are made from this material.
  3. Question: Is building of high-rise thermal houses possible?
Answer: In Russia as well as in Georgia the technology allows constructing houses from thermal blocks with a maximum of 9 floors. In Ukraine, the limit is 5 floors.
  4. Question: Is expanded polystyrene a combustible material?
Answer: No. EPS building material is self-extinguishing (maximum of 3 seconds) and inflame-resistant. The wall can resist fire for 2.5 hours.
  5. Question: Where can I purchase thermal blocks of high quality?
Answer: Pay attention to the density of expanded polystyrene. Material density of 25kg \ m3 is recommended for high-quality construction. Weight - 750 grams, dimensions - 1000 \ 250 \ 250mm. If at these dimensions the block weight is less than 500g, it is likely that the manufacturer retrenched expenses on the material, which degraded the performance characteristics of the block.
  6. Question: Production of thermal blocks: how to choose the appropriate equipment?
Answer: By using the equipment of Rifey Buran line, you can greatly facilitate the work associated with the production of thermal blocks. This makes it possible to reduce the production costs (due to the low cost of raw materials) and increase productivity significantly.
  7. Question: How long will an Insulated House stand?
    Answer: 120 years (estimated period).
